"neVor la cera per pavimenti" Advertising Brand (c. 1970s)

A descriptive caption for my photo

Nevor heard of it!

Well, this is something different! We’re already dipping our claws into the vast waters of niche and forgotten advertising!

This label is interesting as it is simultaneously incredibly rare, while also being effectively valueless. As far as I understand this is the only digitised example on the whole of the internet. As it's so specific and obscure it isn’t really desirable, in the same way that perhaps coins would be, and that’s a reason why I like these labels so much. It’s an interesting thought, to have such a rare piece of history that’s almost entirely unappreciated and unwanted. Even in the world of ephemera it's ephemeral.

Anyway! So, this, *drumroll,* is a matchbox label that advertised a range of floor care products! It’s Italian but the manufacturer is Swiss. "Nevor la cera per pavimenti" translates to "Nevor the floor wax". It’s so obscure that I’ve not been able to find photographic examples of these products online, though I’m sure they exist in archives and catalogs somewhere. On the far left is the old address of the company’s PO Box in Saronno, and a phone number that no longer works.

We can date this one to around 1970 I would say, primarily down to the colours and the more sleek modern look to the design of the products. Late 60s is also possible, but I’d guess at the 70s, it really is quite an obscure fella!

There’s not too much to say on the design itself, as it’s effectively just promoting the two floor wax containers, though the colours themselves are quite pleasing and match (haa) nicely.

Something I actually really like though is the almost liminal design on the containers themselves at the bottom. The tiled room leading to a void-like black doorway is actually quite interesting, I’d like to see a bigger version of this to get a better idea of what it really looked like! I tried to remake it briefly below, I’ve already forgotten why I did this however..
